RAW MILK/CHEESE
The Food and Drug Administration and the Center for Disease Control recommend that consumers do not choose unpasteurized milk or cheese due to the danger of food borne infection. Pasteurization removes the risk of contaminants such as listeria and salmonella. Consuming raw milk products can cause serious health issues and death. Due to current laws, raw milk/cheese must be purchased at the farm--Kansas Dairy Law. Section 65-771(w). If you do choose raw milk, please seek education about how to do this with increased safety.
I personally do not use raw milk due to issues outlined in the above statement and stories I have heard. I believe, however, that everyone should be entitled to their free choices about what they eat. You may find local sources here: http://www.realmilk.com/where2.html.
EGGS: For safety, eggs should be refrigerated (held below 45 degrees) after being taken from the nest.
